River Passage Park
Location: Calgary, AB
This project, which primarily consisted of river bank beautification and public art, creates a viewpoint overlooking the Bow River. Designed to create a link between the city and the flow of the river, the park incorporates curving pathways, waving masonry patterns, and random basalt structures capturing the power of the river. The park provides both raised terraces and seating areas that provide patrons with wide views of the river and surrounding landscape.
The scope of work included demolition of existing concrete structures, site grading, cast-in-place concrete, rundlestone paving, masonry, and landscaping.
A challenge during the project was that it was interrupted by the 2013 flood. Site logistics were revised in order to allow work to continue, and additional flood remediations works were completed prior to progressing with the original River Passage Park scope.
